Storage Canary Wharf Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Canary Wharf in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Canary Wharf is committed to operating ethically, responsibly, and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Canary Wharf has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, and child labour. We do not tolerate any practice that exploits individuals or undermines their fundamental human rights, whether within our own operations or in our wider supply chain.
All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act in accordance with this policy. Any breach is treated as a serious matter that may result in termination of contracts, disciplinary action, or referral to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Canary Wharf operates storage facilities and related services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, property and facility management services, security, cleaning, maintenance, construction and fit-out contractors, technology and software providers, and suppliers of office and storage-related equipment.
We recognise that some of these sectors can face higher risks of labour exploitation. Consequently, we prioritise ongoing due diligence and engagement with suppliers in these areas.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing review processes, we:
Require suppliers to confirm compliance with applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation, as well as our modern slavery principles.
Assess the risk profile of suppliers, paying particular attention to those operating in higher-risk sectors or locations.
Reserve the right to conduct audits or inspections of suppliers, either directly or through independent third parties, to verify compliance. These audits may include site visits, documentation checks, and worker interviews, where appropriate and lawful.
Expect suppliers to cascade equivalent standards to their own subcontractors and supply chains.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we seek to work collaboratively with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If issues are not resolved, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our colleagues, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and on-site operations. Relevant staff receive guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery, the importance of ethical sourcing, and how to escalate concerns.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage Canary Wharf encourages a culture of openness where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspected instances of modern slavery or unethical labour practices associated with our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through our internal reporting channels or via our whistleblowing procedures. All reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as confidentially as possible. We will take appropriate action in response to any substantiated allegation, which may include engaging with authorities, remediating harm, and reviewing our supplier relationships.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring vigilance and continuous improvement. Storage Canary Wharf is committed to reviewing this Modern Slavery Statement and our associated policies and procedures on an annual basis, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, best practice, or our risk profile.
As part of this review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, including the outcomes of supplier audits, the number and nature of reported concerns, and feedback from colleagues and partners. Where necessary, we will strengthen our controls, enhance training, and refine our due diligence processes.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Canary Wharf and represents our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains.
